The benefits of membership include invitations to special lectures pertaining to African-American art by internationally, nationally, and locally prominent artists and scholars; gallery talks; organized art-related trips; previews of museum exhibitions; opportunities to socialize with individuals who have an interest in the arts; access to information and advice on collecting African-American art; and other related programs and events.

Telfair’s Friends of African American Arts’ Call for Artists for 4th annual exhibition, Let the Arts Speak
The Friends of African American Arts (FAAA), a member group of Telfair Museums, will host its 4th annual juried art exhibition, from September 23 to October 14, 2012, at Trends and Traditions of Ardsley Park. All artists are invited to be a part of this exciting exhibition, Let the Arts Speak. The event will showcase the significance, wealth, and variety of works featuring African American subject matter inspired by the exhibit title
To apply, artists should provide images of two works, in the style or medium of artists’ choice, for consideration. Up to two works from each individual will be selected for inclusion in the show. Please include artist’s name, title, date, medium, and dimensions for each work. Pieces can be submitted in jpeg format in an email to Fran Wilson at fran41238s@yahoo.com.
There is an application fee of $35 per piece for Telfair members, and $70 per piece for non-members. Checks can be made payable to the Telfair Museums and sent to Jessica Denmark, Telfair Museums, P.O. Box 10081, Savannah, GA 31412. Initial submission materials must be received by September 5, 2012.
All participating artists will be invited to attend a private opening reception on Sunday, September 23, from 3-5 pm at Trends and Traditions of Ardsley Park, located at 5401 Waters Avenue, in Savannah.
The exhibition is free and open to the public, and will be on display September 23 through October 14, 2012. Trends and Traditions is open, 9:30 am – 6 pm, Monday – Friday, and Saturdays, 10 am – 5 pm.
