The Telfair Museum of Art invites Savannah teenagers, grades 9-12, to participate in the Telfair Teen Advisory Council (TAC). The Council helps develop programming at the museum for teens. It is designed for its members to promote education programming throughout the community by distributing promotional materials, designing flyers and determining creative ways to promote programs at the museum. TAC Members are given the opportunity to volunteer in the museum during public programs in order to fulfill their schools’ volunteer service requirements. They are also the chief facilitators of any education program specifically designed for teenagers. For example, during the artist interview/lectures, the advisory council will be responsible for leading the discussion between the artist and teens.
By participating in the Teen Advisory Council, members have the opportunity to learn about the career opportunities available within a museum, particularly in Education and Marketing. Lastly, participation in the Teen Advisory Council is another plus for graduating seniors in helping to make them desirable candidates to universities that have more competitive acceptance programs.
